The Humans Behind Fritz

Hi, we are Ksenia and Joshua. We created AskFritz as a private space for dreamwork.
It is not another chatbot pretending to care about you or your dreams. AskFritz is deeply rooted in Gestalt Psychology, which sees everything in a dream as a part of yourself β and every part has something to say.
Inspired by Laura and Fritz Perls, we built a tool where AI holds the space, not authority. It does not interpret your dreams or give you dream dictionary answers. Instead, it guides you into a dialogue with your dream, helping you reflect on the meaning of your experience yourself and process emotions.
AskFritz brings your dream into the present moment by engaging the mind, body, and breathing, allowing you to explore the experience rather than analyze it from a distance.
The Meeting
Ksenia and Joshua meet at ESADE eWorks Accelerator in Barcelona.
First Tests
We tested AskFritz on ourselves β immersive, grounding, insightful.
Public Launch
AskFritz launched for free public use worldwide.
MWC Barcelona
Presented at Mobile World Congress Barcelona.
Own AI Infra
Partnership with Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
How It Started
The project was born at ESADE in Barcelona, where trauma therapist Ksenia Trefilova and AI expert Joshua Vasilda met during an accelerator program. After years of exploring her own dreams, Ksenia wanted to create a tool that could support this process in a more consistent and accessible way.
We first tested AskFritz on ourselves. The experience felt immersive, grounding, and unexpectedly insightful. Later we tested it with psychologists, a professor of ethics, and ordinary dreamers. People often leave calmer, clearer, and surprised by how much meaning already existed inside them.
We launched the platform for free public use in 2025. Since then, AskFritz has evolved into a growing mental health project, presented at public events including Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2026.
We are currently working with Barcelona Supercomputing to develop our own AI infrastructure.
Why dreamwork works
Dreamwork is based on how the brain processes emotions, memories, bodily sensations, and personal experiences during sleep.
Here is what science explains:
1. Dreams help process emotions
Research shows that dreaming and REM sleep are connected to emotional processing and memory integration.
During sleep, the brain revisits emotionally important experiences and helps reduce emotional intensity over time.
2. The body participates in emotions
Emotions are not only "in the mind." The body actively participates in emotional processing and decision-making.
This is why AskFritz invites attention to breathing, sensations, tension, and physical responses during dreamwork.
3. Awareness of bodily sensations improves emotional regulation
Research on interoception shows that people who notice and understand their internal bodily signals often regulate emotions more effectively.
Dreamwork that includes body awareness may support healthier emotional processing.
4. Humans understand themselves through stories
Psychology research shows that people create meaning and identity through internal narratives.
Dreams often reflect emotional experiences in symbolic story form. Exploring these narratives can help people better understand themselves.
5. Gestalt dreamwork uses direct experience, not interpretation
Gestalt dreamwork approaches dreams as living experiences rather than symbols to decode.
AskFritz combines these ideas into a guided digital experience where AI does not interpret the dream for you, but helps you stay in contact with your own process.
